Palm Bark, Arid Dome

Bougainvillea in Arid Dome

The low winter light coming through the glass lit up this branch of bougainvillea against the arid dome's fake rock.

Domes

I visited the Domes a few days ago and renewed my lapsed membership. This is such a treat after days of freezing temperatures.

Oooooh! Shiny!

These tall buildings are in downtown Jacksonville, FL across from the MOSH. I did darken the sky in the corners, just for fun.

Tail and Shadow

MOSH dinosaur's tail made a nice shadow against the exhibit wall.

MOSH Mannequins

These two were in a MOSH exhibit illustrating life in Florida "way back when." Not as creepy as the old lady in the rocking chair in the Milwaukee Public Museum's Streets of Old Milwaukee exhibit, but creepy nonetheless.

Planet Exhibit at MOSH

This planet was near the ceiling of the dinosaur exhibit at the MOSH. It was spinning, as you can tell by the photo, but there was that pole that appears to be going through it. Once I got home and looked at this, I couldn't figure out what that pole was doing, but I don't think it was going through the sphere or it wouldn't have been able to rotate. I just can't remember what I was seeing! Sometimes a picture is even better with 1000 words of explanation next to it, I guess.

More of the MOSH

This is the entrance to the Jacksonville MOSH (Museum of Science and History) human body exhibit. It's the first thing you see when you come in the front door of the place.

Florida Again

Just got back from another visit to Florida. Will be posting more photos in the coming week. This is a possum that lives at the MOSH (Museum of Science and History) in Jacksonville. I don't know if possums are normally cross-eyed, but this one is! Very cute, actually. She was raised from a baby by humans so she's very tame.
